What is Jamaican Jerk?
The most well-known and traditional method of Jamaican cooking is called “jerking”. Whereby meats and vegetables are rubbed with a spicy seasoning paste, made from a mixture of scotch bonnet pepper, spices, onions, garlic, and thyme. For the most flavorsome results, the meat/fish/vegetables should marinate in the delicious paste, before being slowly cooked over a wood fire with pimento sticks, which adds to the aroma and smokey flavor of the traditional Jerk Pit.
How to Use Walkerswood Jerk Seasoning:
Simply rub a small amount - 1oz jerk seasoning: 2.2lbs / 1kg - into your meat or fish, for best results marinate overnight to absorb the spicy flavor and then cook until done on your barbeque or in your oven.
We recommend mixing the Walkerswood Jerk seasoning with a little oil or soy sauce and/or, fresh lemon or lime juice to loosen it up a bit, which helps distribute the seasoning evenly to fully absorb the spicy flavors.
