An unusual, but amazingly tasty combination of Walkerswood's traditional Jerk Seasoning paste, with a base of delicious ripe Jamaican bananas, which creates a tantalizingly tasty Jerk BBQ sauce.
The traditional Walkerswood Jerk Seasoning is packed full of flavorsome ingredients which gives meals a depth of flavor, whilst the banana lends a fruity sweetness that softens the fiery spice of the Jerk. Excellent as a marinade or for basting all your barbeque favorites.
Hot Tip: Mix the Jerk BBQ sauce with honey to make an amazing dip for grilled meats and veggies!
What is Jamaican Jerk?
The most well-known and traditional method of Jamaican cooking is called “jerking”. Whereby meats and vegetables are rubbed with a spicy seasoning paste, made from a mixture of scotch bonnet pepper, spices, onions, garlic, and thyme.
For the most flavorsome results, the meat/fish/vegetables should marinate in the delicious paste, before being slowly cooked over a wood fire with pimento sticks, which adds to the aroma and smokey flavor of the traditional Jerk Pit.
How to Use Walkerswood Jerk BBQ Sauce:
Marinate your preferred meat/fish/vegan alternative in Walkerswood Jerk Marinade, preferably overnight. Wrap each piece in a foil pouch and place over indirect heat on the barbeque or 300-degree oven for at least one hour – the longer and slower the better. Check to see if they are tender. Remove from foil and place over direct heat or increase oven temperature to 400 Degrees, baste repeatedly with the Jerk BBQ sauce until well glazed.
Can be used as a baste, marinade, dip, or sauce.
